In 2005
Russell started a quarterly newsletter, Russell Communiqué, which was designed
to highlight new research topics and to address some of the emerging investment
challenges faced by the client base. From the beginning, the closing column,
"Great Moments in Financial History," offered a short, interesting
historical counterpoint to the topical content in the rest of the newsletter.
The
book’s articles address great moments from 3000 BC to 2012 and are organized in
the following three sections: 1.Origins
(3000 BC to 17th Century) 2.The Enlightenment (1661 to 1787) and 3.Modern Times
(1811 to 2012)
